About Us

We are an internationally acknowledged referral centre of excellence for specialist veterinary care. Our RCVS accredited practice offers access to one of the largest groups of veterinary specialists within the UK and Europe. Our team consists of over 60 Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVN) and 32 recognised specialists in surgery, internal medicine, ophthalmology, oncology, neurology, cardiology, dentistry, diagnostic imaging and anaesthesia. Nursing Pathways, our innovative new nursing structure, places an emphasis on individualised career progression opportunities, whilst maintaining and developing your veterinary nursing skills.

About the Role

This is a full-time permanent position (40 hours per week): Monday to Friday: 8.00am-17.00pm. No requirement for out-of-hours or weekend work.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) with a minimum of 2-3 years' experience within a multi-disciplinary referral practice.
  • Enthusiastic, flexible, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. Having high levels of accuracy and attention to detail are essential, together with being committed to providing high standards of service.
  • Organised, proactive, and comfortable juggling multiple priorities.
  • Confident communicator who can liaise effectively with internal teams.

The successful candidate must:

  • Have excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Maintain a professional and caring approach in all aspects of your work.
  • Provide evidence of your Right to Work in the UK.

Your role and responsibilities

As part of the theatre team, you will work closely with fellow RVNs, Nursing Assistants, Clinicians, Interns, Residents, and Anaesthesia team to:

  • Ensure the day-to-day organisation of the theatre department, including scheduling of cases, the organisation of staffing resources on shift and consider staffing provision to shifts in advance to respond to changes in staffing levels.
  • Ensure the provision of care to patients is of a high standard and meets the Practice's and relevant professional body's expectations.
  • Be a highly visible, proactive and accessible leader, acting as a clinical resource, ensuring the delivery of high standards of nursing care and always provide overarching supervision to the team.
  • Take appropriate remedial action on shift to address concerns - troubleshoot and problem solve operational, care and staffing related issues on shifts.
  • Take responsibility for optimising patient flow into and out of theatre by communicating constructively and efficiently with colleagues within Diagnostics, Wards and Reception, in addition to the operational management team and bookings department to ensure every patient journey is a smooth and efficient one.
  • Ensure theatre areas are well maintained and to a high standard of cleanliness appropriate to a clinical area within a leading referral practice.
  • Ensure any departmental downtime is managed appropriately and is utilised to fulfil deep cleaning and maintenance tasks.
