Job Type: Fixed Term – 6 month contract April to September 2026
We are looking for a vet to join our oncology service for 6 months to cover a period of Equal Family Leave. You should be a specialist, or board-eligible in oncology or internal medicine if you have a particular interest and sufficient oncology case exposure.
Why Join us?
- We are an oncology service of 3 specialists, 2 nurses an intern and nursing assistant. We are looking for the right person to join us to cover a period of equal family leave.
- Our service is mature and has been stable for many years. We all pride ourselves in providing a holistic service for pets and their carers. The service is busy and we are (usually) a well-oiled machine, but ensure we have time to care for our patients.
- Our patients often help from other services and we wouldn’t be able to provide the same care as a standalone service. NDSR is a friendly place and we are supported as well as helping to support all the other 11 services you would ever need.
- The environment in which you work is also important- NDSR is a purpose built multi-disciplinary hospital in attractive area of Surrey.

The Team: You will work closely in a team of 2 ECVIM-oncology diplomates Mike and Francesca, a discipline specific intern Joana, two dedicated nurses Debbie and Anita, and Alyssia, the nursing assistant. We all get along well and welcome case discussion. This is also true between services and we work to keep service transfers and advice requests as easy as possible. We have 4 specialist soft tissue surgeons who all enjoy oncology cases.
NDSR is specialist led with a wider team across 12 disciplines including surgery, internal medicine, diagnostic imaging, oncology, cardiology, neurology, dentistry, anaesthesia and dermatology. We have a small team of residents, rotating interns and an exceptional RVN, SVN and PCA team to support your service.
Hours: Ideally you would join us on a 4-day week basis (32 hours per week) however we offer flexibility to consider different options including 3 or 5 days per week. You would become part of the clinicians’ weekend rota looking after current patients only. This would mean 2 weekends during the 6 month period.
