Job Title: Night Veterinary Surgeon

Location: Cromwell Veterinary – Huntingdon

Job Type: 18 Month Fixed Term Contract

Salary: Up to Β£68,222 (Depending on Experience)

Hours: 4 week rolling rota:

Week 1 Off

Week 2 – 5 x TW shifts Mon- Fri & 2 x night shifts Sat-Sun

Week 3 Off

Week 4 – 5 x Night shift Mon-Fri

(discussions around alternative rota patterns welcome) Average 32.75 hours per week.

Would you like to be part of a progressive and supportive ECC team?

We are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon, with a passion for ECC, to join our experienced and friendly team of 4 amazing night vets (including an ECC certificate holder) You would also be working with two experienced Night Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs) and a twilight nurse, alongside overlap with the day team during your Twilight shifts. This role is to cover a period of maternity leave for 18th months, with an ideal start date between July and September 2025.

Night shifts are 7pm to 8am, whilst twilight shifts are 4pm-midnight Monday-Friday. The role covers inpatient care, emergency consultations and procedures. We cover OOH for our hospital and 5 branches plus 7 other local practices, so we have a varied caseload but still have sufficient time to manage cases to the highest standard.

The team

At Cromwell Vets you will be working alongside a collaborative team to be truly proud of, due to their commitment to the delivery of exceptional care to our clients and their pets. Our clinical team is made up of 21FTE Vets, including several certificate holders, and we support and encourage CPD (including certificate study). We also enjoy being part of our communities and attending local events to run fun dog shows raising money each year for our chosen charity and encouraging team members to take part. Cromwell Vets also holds regular social events, including summer events, impromptu lunchtime barbeques, and our famous annual Christmas party!

Cromwell Vets is a busy 24-hour first opinion small animal hospital with 5 branch surgeries and a state-of-the-art rehabilitation centre. We pride ourselves on providing the highest standards in veterinary medicine, and our tier 3 hospital has excellent facilities and equipment and hosts our dedicated out of hours service. We are also very proud of The Cromwell ARC – a purpose-built physiotherapy and hydrotherapy unit with aquatic treadmill and K-Laser, run by our qualified physiotherapist.
