The predicted salary is between 24500 - 28000 £ per year.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and enthusiastic Multi-disciplinary RVN to join the Wards and Theatre Nursing Team at a busy, purpose-built practice fully equipped with surgical equipment and diagnostic facilities. The role will require you to work alternate weeks in both wards and theatre.

Your Role And Responsibilities:

  • Provide wards-based nursing care to inpatients across all wards and disciplines; work in small teams to ensure clear communication and high patient care.
  • Nursing of canine and feline patients across Surgery, Neurology, Feline, Ophthalmology, Medicine, Oncology, Cardiology and Dermatology.
  • Theatre responsibilities include monitoring sedation and anaesthesia, surgical preparation, theatre assistance and maintenance, handling and care of surgical equipment (including laparoscopy & fluoroscopy), assisting with diagnostic procedures and accurate record keeping.
  • Maintain up-to-date clinical records and participate in wards rounds, team meetings and briefings.
  • Participate in stock management and use and maintenance of sterilisation and diagnostic/surgical equipment in accordance with SOPs.
  • Assist surgeons during procedures by performing circulating and scrub nurse roles and prepare patients for surgical procedures.
  • Deliver nursing care with a focus on high quality patient care, infection control and hygiene standards.
  • Possess willingness to learn and develop knowledge in a referral setting; training provided in both wards and theatre with potential progression to ECC wards rotations after training.
  • Future opportunities may include roles such as Clinical Supervisor/Mentor or other leadership/Championship roles.

Note: This is a full-time position with a 40-hour week on a rota between 06:30 and 19:00, including participation in the theatre on-call rota, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

Education:

  • Essential: Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Preferred: Dip AVN ECC Veterinary Technician Specialist

Experience:

  • Essential: Previous Veterinary Nursing experience
  • Preferred: Referral Nursing experience

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Essential: IT literate, highly organised with the ability to multitask, manage time and workload effectively, able to deal with multiple stakeholders at all levels, confident, effective communicator who can build rapport quickly.
