Working Hours & Rota: 42 hours/week, mixture of early and late shifts, Monday–Friday
Weekend Rota: 1 in 6 weekends with 3 days back in lieu
On-Call: Weekend-only on-call rota
Bank Holidays: 1 per year (paid extra + day back in lieu)

Our RCVS accredited Milton Hospital has a real emphasis on ECC and medicine. Hosting our own Vet24 Out-of-Hours (OOH) service, we see an exciting and varied case load, benefitting from continuity of day and night clinical care. Many local practices feed into Milton, resulting in a genuine critical care caseload – no day is ever the same.

As an RVN on our day team, you will be involved in all aspects of nursing across our dynamic and varied caseload. This is a day-only role, with a dedicated night/twilight team on site.
You will experience:
- Nurse clinics (actively encouraged)
- Theatre nursing and anaesthesia
- Inpatient care and monitoring
- Emergency and critical care cases
- Supporting the varied caseload generated through our OOH service
We have multiple experienced vet surgeons, nurses, and support staff on site, many of whom hold their own interests and certificates. Milton is an ideal environment for RVNs looking to further develop their clinical skills with excellent in-house training and support.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing high-quality inpatient care and monitoring
- Supporting surgical procedures, anaesthesia, and ECC cases
- Running and supporting nurse clinics
- Assisting with diagnostics, laboratory work and imaging
- Delivering excellent client communication and patient advocacy
- Working collaboratively with the day, twilight, and night teams
- Maintaining a high standard of patient care, organisation and cleanliness
- Participating in rota duties including weekends and on-call
- Upholding the values and culture of Village Vets Cambridge
Person Specification
The successful candidate will:
- Be a qualified RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse
- Ideally have previous nursing experience; however, newly qualified RVNs will be considered
- Show confidence or potential in ECC, anaesthesia, inpatient care and nurse clinics
- Be a team player with a positive attitude and excellent communication skills
- Be able to work well within a busy, varied hospital environment
- Demonstrate enthusiasm for development and learning

Team Structure
- 10 day nurses (including RVNs, student nurses, and PCAs)
- 6 dedicated night nurses
