Hours: 40 hours per week over 4 days. Weekends included on a rota basis (Saturday mornings only)
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated, enthusiastic and driven person to join our friendly team at St Clair Vets as a Patient Care Assistant.
Your role and responsibilities:
This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone with a passion for animals and the drive to make a difference. We are a small animal practice with a great team of vets, nurses and patient care assistants and receptionists who are all committed to animal health and welfare. This is a demanding role and requires dedication, proactivity, flexibility, a strong work ethic and a strong belief in delivering the highest standard of patient care.
Duties will also include all aspects of hospitalised animal care such as:
- kennel cleaning
- feeding inpatients
- laundry
- walking dogs
- assisting vets and vet nurses with procedures on patients
- preparing, setting up and cleaning theatre
- grooming
- general day to day patient care
There will also be a client‑facing part of the role where this may be face‑to‑face or on the telephone. Cover will also be required for our branch sites so a driving licence is essential.

We are a British Small Animal Veterinary Association approved practice and an Approved Training Centre, certified by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. St Clair Vets is a progressive, well‑equipped practice in Kirkcaldy that’s been at the very heart of our local community for many years. We also have two smaller branches in both Glenrothes and Leven. We carry out our own orthopaedic surgeries. We have digital x‑ray, dental x‑ray, state‑of‑the‑art ultrasound machine and video endoscopy. We have two theatres and 7 consult rooms. We encourage our nurses to carry out schedule 3 procedures if this is something that they are passionate about. We take pride in providing a caring, compassionate, and friendly service to all our clients and their precious pets. With parking available and easy access to public transport, this is a fantastic opportunity to work in a busy practice. We are also close to Edinburgh, with great transport links to the city.
