We are a multi-disciplinary, RCVS accredited specialist lead referral centre within the county of Essex, where we work to the highest standards of veterinary care for pets, creating a seamless experience for them and their owners. We are incredibly proud to have an outstanding team of highly qualified veterinary specialists, that enable the very best care for all patients that come to our practice.
Southfields Veterinary Specialists are currently recruiting for a talented nurse to provide support to our rapidly growing surgical department. You will work as part of our surgical team consisting of consultants, residents, interns, nurses, and support staff. You will see a large and varied referral and emergency caseload, including orthopaedics, soft tissue, neurology, ophthalmology, and exotics, allowing you to work within an exceptional team and develop your career. This is a rewarding and challenging role that will require teamwork and dedication to the service and its patients.
Your daily duties will include:
- Assisting with surgical consultations
- Patient preparation (from admitting to surgery)
- Preparation of theatres and the theatre prep area
- Monitoring of sedations/anaesthetics
- Assisting with pre/post-operative imaging and procedures
- Communicating post-operative requirements to ward nurses
- Providing sterile and circulating surgical support
- Delivering theatre based training to the wider team
- Creating standard operating procedures
- Development of audits
- Stock and equipment management
You will be required to work a mixture of early and late shifts and 2:8 weekends with time off in lieu following.
