An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Neurology Clinician/Specialist to join the fantastic team at Southfields Veterinary Specialists. The applicant would preferably be a European or American board-certified Neurologist, but applications are also welcomed from candidates who have completed an accredited residency.
You will be working as part of a team of 3 ECVN Diplomates, 2 residents in training, 1 neurology intern and two neurology nurses.
About us: Southfields is a large multi-disciplinary veterinary hospital in Essex, UK, having diploma holders in multiple disciplines including oncology, radiation therapy, imaging, orthopaedics, soft tissue, anaesthesia, medicine, ophthalmology and exotics. We are only 30 mins away from central London but also close to beautiful countryside and sandy beaches. There are excellent transport links to Europe and beyond via Stansted, London City and Gatwick airports as well as the Eurostar.
This is an exciting time to join our purpose-built large multi-disciplinary veterinary team in our 40,000 sq. ft, state-of-the-art veterinary referral hospital, with 16 consulting rooms, new cross-sectional imaging machines (Siemens Magnetom Sola 1.5T MRI and Siemens 64-slice CT), Neurogen Electrodiagnostic machine including BAER and video EEG and a mobile C-Arm and portable X-ray machine for use in our 4 out of 7 lead-lined theatres.
The oncology service has a very strong tradition at Southfields, supported by a cutting-edge linear accelerator to take patient care to a whole different level and offer the best treatment options that are currently available on the veterinary market. This allows for strong case collaboration between the Neurology and Oncology departments.
You will see a large and varied referral and emergency caseload, allowing you to work within an exceptional team and develop your career. Our team is also engaged in teaching and clinical research.

The responsibilities in the position include:
- Provide clinical services as a specialist consultant, exclusively neurological and neurosurgery referrals.
- Support and develop the Neurology team, by supervising and teaching residents, interns, technicians and nurses.
- Work collaboratively with all other referral services and foster good relationships.
- Develop new neurosurgeries, ways of working and SOP’s within our new centre.
- Demonstrate professional standards that will advance patient care.
- Be an ambassador for the neurology team with clinical research.

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATION/STATUS/CITIZENSHIP REQUIREMENTS: You must fulfil the following requirements:
- Membership of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (or eligible to become member).
- ECVN or ACVIM (neurology) board certified preferably, but residency trained will be considered.
- Strong communication skills and professional approach.
