Veterinary Specialists Scotland (VSS) has an exciting opportunity for an Anaesthesia Clinician to join their team on a 12 month fixed-term contract. This is an ideal position for someone who has completed an anaesthesia internship and is working towards a certificate. Participation in a shared 1 in 4 out of hours on-call rota is expected.
We are a vibrant, friendly and collaborative team, who all work together to provide outstanding patient and client care. We currently take referrals in feline and canine medicine, cardiology, soft tissue surgery, orthopaedics and neurology, supported by a team of Specialist Anaesthetists and Diagnostic Imagers. Our expanding nursing team has a wealth of experience in referral practice and supports our vision of providing excellence in patient care. In turn, the nurses are assisted by the veterinary care assistants and we also have a strong client care team to deal with administrative aspects. As part of the Linnaeus Group, we also have access to support from a wide number of referral hospitals.

Veterinary Specialists Scotland is located close to Edinburgh, but also has easy access to Glasgow, countryside, mountains and magnificent coastline. Edinburgh is a beautiful and vibrant city, famous for its festival and is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The premises have been specifically architect designed with lots of natural light and currently comprise:
- Six light and airy consulting rooms, including a dedicated feline consulting room
- Five wards – canine medical, canine surgical, feline, Intensive Care Unit and Isolation
- Endoscopy suite
- Extensive in-house lab facilities
- Ultrasound room
- CT scanner, digital radiography, fluoroscopy and visiting MRI
- Two theatre suites
- Two anaesthesia dedicated induction rooms with wall mounted anaesthetic machines
- Aestiva anaesthetic machines in both theatres, CT and endoscopy
- Nerve stimulator and portable ultrasound machine for ultrasound guided nerve blocks.
