Location: Garston, Frome

Job Type: Full time Permanent

Hours: 38 hours, 4 days a week. Hours are between 7.30am and midnight. Weekend work on a rota basis.

We are looking for a pro-active Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to join our fantastic team. PCAs work in all areas of practice, and it will be necessary to accept instruction from a variety of people. You will be responsible for:

  • Preparing theatre for surgeries
  • Cleaning and maintaining the quality of our instruments
  • Assisting with patient care and husbandry
  • Running in-house lab tests
  • Packaging biological samples
  • Assisting with the smooth running of the practice

Duties will also include, but are not limited to:

  • Cleaning, disinfection and preparation of patient accommodation
  • Actively maintaining the hospital and following infection control procedures, including sterilising and deep cleaning
  • Assisting with reception and client care, including answering the telephone, dealing with enquiries, booking procedures and taking payments
  • Assisting Veterinary Surgeons, Veterinary Nurses, and support staff where and when required
  • Working and communicating effectively with colleagues and clients
  • Demonstrating the ability to be reliable, adaptable, understanding and empathetic
