As an Applications Engineer within our IT team, you will be instrumental in maintaining the stability, scalability, and performance of our technology estate. You'll deliver 3rd line support across applications and systems, while also contributing to cross-functional projects that shape our digital future.
Responsibilities
- Triage, troubleshoot, and resolve application, data, and platform issues
- Provide 3rd line support across a wide range of business systems
- Configure, build, test, and implement application-based solutions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver technical solutions aligned to business needs
- Develop and maintain integrations across systems and environments
- Implement process automation using SaaS and low‑code tools
- Support Azure services, including event management, permissions, storage, and integrations
- Work with automation and data tools such as PowerShell, SQL, Azure Data Factory, and Logic Apps
- Troubleshoot and support both commercial off the shelf (COTS) and bespoke applications
- Maintain clear documentation for systems, processes, and best practices
- Identify opportunities for system optimisation and continuous improvement
- Partner with wider teams to support shared services and investigations
Qualifications
- 4+ years in a Service Desk or technical support environment
- 2+ years in 2nd/3rd line application support (COTS and bespoke systems)
- Hands‑on experience with application development or SaaS configuration
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure (Logic Apps, Data Factory, Azure Portal)
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting
- Experience with SQL and data integration processes
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies
Desirable Qualifications
- Exposure to DevOps practices (CI/CD pipelines)
- Experience in digital transformation initiatives
- Knowledge of Python, JavaScript, or other scripting languages
- Awareness of cybersecurity best practices
- Experience with Azure Databricks or similar tools
- Advanced Azure certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect)
- Additional cloud or data platform certifications
