- Full hospital‑based role on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract at Village Vet St Albans
- Night veterinary surgeon (overnight rota only – no branch work)
- Structured 1‑week on, 3‑weeks off rota (7‑night blocks)
- No additional out‑of‑hours commitments outside scheduled blocks
Hours & Salary
- Hours: 7‑night blocks, 1 week on and 3 weeks off
- Salary: £85,000 – £95,000 per annum FTE, depending on experience, plus a bonus scheme
Responsibilities
- Attend a varied inpatient and emergency caseload during overnight hours
- Work independently with full clinical confidence
- Function within a structured rota with clear team handovers
- Access to full hospital diagnostics and facilities overnight, including digital dentistry, imaging, lab, and endoscopy equipment
- Receive strong night nursing support and clinical backup when required
Team and Practice
Village Vet St Albans features a 6.5 FTE veterinary team (including a veterinary surgeon with dental certification, a surgeon completing a surgical certificate, and a medicine and imaging specialist), and a nursing team of 10 comprising RVNs, SVNs and patient care assistants. The hospital offers theatre, imaging, dental, and full in‑house diagnostics throughout the night, with dedicated cat, dog and isolation wards. It has recently been refurbished into a modern, well‑equipped facility.
