Job Type: Permanent

Hours: 4 X 9 hour days per week plus 1 in 4 weekends. No nights. Part-time hours also considered.

We are expanding our team of Lead Veterinary Surgeons and looking for another experienced vet to support and lead our fantastic veterinary team. Our Lead Veterinary Surgeons are responsible for line management of the vet team, maintaining high standards of patient and client care and optimising the uptake of clinical services. The Lead Veterinary Surgeon will work closely with and assist the Clinical Director to provide leadership, training, and development of the vet team in addition to providing guidance and support to the nursing and client care team. The position will include half a day per week of protected non-clinical time to perform these additional responsibilities.

You will be joining a very welcoming team who all support each other. You would be working alongside two Advanced Practitioners in medicine and certificate holders in cardiology, dermatology and ECC.

Hours are full time over 4 days per week with a share of the weekend rota, currently 1 in 4. Here at the Huntingdon hospital we benefit from our own on-site Twilight and Night team, making this a day only role.

About us: Cromwell Vets is a busy 24-hour first opinion small animal hospital with 5 branch surgeries and a state-of-the-art rehabilitation centre. Our practice has been caring for pets for over 100 years and we pride ourselves on providing the very best contextualised care and service for our pets and their owners. Our tier 3 hospital has excellent facilities and equipment and hosts our dedicated out of hours service.

We have a fantastic, experienced and friendly clinical team with many certificate holders and we support and encourage CPD (including certificate study). We have all the equipment available to enable full work up of cases in house – digital radiography including dental radiography, advanced ultrasound machine with an extensive range of probes, video-endoscopy (gastroscope, bronchoscope and small rigid endoscopes), multi-parameter anaesthetic monitoring, tonometry, etc. We have just opened a new wing at our hospital with a state-of-the-art operating theatre, treatment rooms and a calm and spacious cat ward. We are also very proud of The Cromwell ARC – a purpose-built physiotherapy and hydrotherapy unit with underwater treadmill and K-Laser, run by our two qualified physiotherapists.

We are very fortunate that many of our staff have been part of ‘The Cromwell Family’ for many years and as a team, we are very caring and supportive of one another.
