- Improving Community Health and Wellbeing: building connections, reducing social isolation, improving mental and physical health and well-being, increasing learning and skill-building.
- Facilitating Community Engagement: empowering residents to develop innovative and sustainable solutions to create community benefit and capacity-building.
We are a local organisation of staff and volunteers focused on projects prioritised by local people. Annually we engage with over 3,000 people through our activities, improving the environment, people’s health and wellbeing, and strengthening our communities.
In line with the Scottish Government’s policy priority of tackling the climate emergency, this role will focus on the delivery of environmental initiatives in the village of Bridgend. By delivering climate action, education and awareness activities, the Project Officer will work closely with project staff, volunteers and partners to maximise local community engagement, increase volunteer recruitment, and promote the local delivery of existing circular economy projects.
The role will involve weekly delivery of Tool Library and Repair Shop collections and returns, and the design and delivery of seven monthly workshop sessions focusing on climate action and awareness. It is heavily focused on engaging those seldom heard and experiencing barriers, and therefore requires a strong understanding of, and commitment to, equality and diversity.
Responsibilities
- Deliver environmental initiatives in Bridgend, collaborating with staff, volunteers and partners.
- Manage weekly collections and returns for the Tool Library and Repair Shop.
- Design and deliver seven monthly workshop sessions on climate action and awareness.
- Recruit and engage volunteers, particularly from under-represented groups.
- Promote existing circular economy projects within the community.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in community engagement, environmental projects or related fields is desirable.
- Strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
