We are looking for the next bright spark to join our team of devoted hospitality professionals, in providing exceptional travel experiences with a personal touch. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about hospitality, travel and 5-star luxury, to develop within the golf industry. If you love the world of golf travel, or are keen to learn why it is so special and rewarding, this position could be perfect for you. The successful candidate will be part of an exciting future at Links Golf St Andrews, whilst learning from exceptional standards being passed down a generation.
About Links Golf St Andrews: Our business is recognised as one of the industry’s leading luxury golf travel companies. Established in 1985, the last 41 years have been spent perfecting the design and delivery of itineraries, to create lifetime memories for our clients. When you strip it all back, we are simply in the business of making people happy. Behind the scenes this has been achieved through entrepreneurship, long-term stability, maintaining the highest standards and developing a truly brilliant team of like-minded people with an unwavering determination to be the best. Our core business is focused on small-group travel to the UK & Ireland, with plenty of experience in dealing with larger groups, corporate travel and events. Links Golf is a family business built on values, hard work and having fun in everything we do.
A Note From The Team: “We’re a little biased…but Links Golf is a rather special company. There are 15 of us full-time and just over 20 during high-season, blending an incredible amount of experience with plenty of youth and energy. Working at Links Golf is generally a job for life if you’re suited to the role and industry, because of the people, culture and conditions. This goes hand-in-hand with some of our core values; loyalty, integrity and trust. Our offices are in St Andrews, ideal for what we do as it’s only a matter of yards from the 18th green of the Old Course. They are open plan and we encourage working together creatively, in trying to deliver the perfect trip for each client down to the finest of details. Although golf is the primary focus of almost all itineraries, demand has pushed us to develop off-the-course experiences and we place an equally high value on all itinerary elements. No two days are ever the same, meaning you learn quick and fast, but the support and coaching is always there. The end results of our hard work are so rewarding.”
The Role: Ultimately this is an office-based sales position, however the nature of the job provides ample opportunity to be client-facing during the golf season, meeting with industry partners year round and for various travel across the UK & Ireland, as well as internationally. The latter coming with experience in the role. Whilst it is impossible to breakdown the exact day-to-day of a dynamic seasonal business, below are the core responsibilities of the successful applicant.
- Handling enquiries from prospective and past clients, who are interested in travelling to the UK & Ireland from all over the globe.
- Thoughtfully designing customised itineraries, giving the greatest care to ensure a perfect experience for each individual client.
- Processing bookings – using internal systems and following procedure implemented by our industry partners.
- Managing requirements pre-arrival.
- Interacting with clients, most often whilst they are in St Andrews.
- Delivering post-tour communications and customer service.
The position will begin as entry level, however at Links Golf, everyone is on their own path for development. It is not a competitive atmosphere and contribution to the overall team effort is always rewarded.
The Perfect Person: In our search for a new colleague, we will give consideration to those who display the below traits, as well as those who show the potential to develop them.
- Should want to be based in St Andrews/the surrounding area. We place such a high value on working as a team, and doing so from our offices. If necessary we can make local accommodation available for a settling in period.
- Has a passion for the hospitality industry and a can-do attitude, taking pride in their work with a determination to deliver the highest standards. Customer service is at the heart of everything we do and it’s important the successful candidate aligns with the Links Golf brand.
- Has a sharp eye for detail, good initiative and problem-solving skills. As a luxury travel service we bring together several elements, juggle many moving parts and work with a vast array of industry partners.
- Will have the ability to seamlessly pivot between different tasks and manage shifting priorities without losing focus. We are a small business that moves quickly and every member of the team wears many hats.
- Will love either 5-star luxury travel, the golf industry, or perhaps both. Many of our team started with an interest in one or the other, becoming well-rounded experts through training and coaching. Some play golf, some do not. Those who do not still enjoy the spirit of the game and all that golf is about, whilst having their own unique set of skills that contribute to the company in many different ways.
