We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Warehouse Team Leader to oversee the day-to-day operations of our warehouse while leading a team to achieve productivity, accuracy, and safety targets. This is a physically demanding role that requires an individual who is prepared to work alongside the team, lead by example, and actively participate in warehouse duties.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Supervising warehouse staff, ensuring orders are picked and packed accurately, maintaining inventory standards, and promoting a safe and efficient working environment.
- Leading, motivating, and supporting a team of warehouse operatives.
- Leading daily shift briefings to communicate objectives, safety updates, and priorities.
- Actively participating in daily warehouse activities.
- Picking, packing, and preparing customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Overseeing unloading of stock deliveries and checking incoming stock against purchase orders.
- Co-ordinating loading of vehicles ensuring timely dispatch of customer orders.
- Allocating work and monitoring team performance to ensure productivity targets are met.
- Ensuring all health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
- Training and mentoring new and existing team members.
- Conducting regular quality checks to maintain high standards of accuracy.
- Monitoring stock levels and assisting with inventory counts.
- Providing cover and deputising on tasks in the warehouse manager's absence.
- Communicating and liaising with transport companies for incoming and outgoing deliveries.
- Liaising with management regarding operational issues and continuous improvement opportunities.
Requirements:
- Previous warehouse experience, preferably in a supervisory or team leader role.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Experience in team leadership, conducting performance reviews, and addressing performance issues.
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
- Ability to prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Experience using warehouse management systems is desirable.
- Familiarity with MS Outlook, Excel, Word.
- Forklift licence – ideally with a Reach Truck but Counterbalance would suffice.
- Carrying out additional duties requested by a member of the management team or as the requirements of the business demand.
