We achieve this not with targets and incentives, but by fostering a positive, supportive, fair, and open atmosphere.

We respect and value difference but insist on inclusivity.

We celebrate all aspects of diversity and challenge any form of bias.

This is vital to our ability to work as one team, with a common goal.

The Role

Ready to play a pivotal role at the heart of one of the firm's largest and most dynamic practice groups?

We're looking for an experienced Resource Manager to join our London Mainstream Corporate (MSC) team, where you'll act as a trusted adviser to Partners and senior business leaders, helping shape how legal talent is deployed to deliver exceptional client service, strong financial performance and sustainable growth.

This role is offered as a 12 month fixed term contract.

This is far more than a traditional resource management role.

You'll combine commercial insight, strategic workforce planning and stakeholder influence to ensure the right people are working on the right matters at the right time.

Working closely with Work Allocation Partners, the Practice COO, HR and senior lawyers, you'll have a direct impact on utilisation, profitability, talent development and long-term workforce strategy.

Key responsibilities

  • Leading resource planning and allocation across the London MSC practice
  • Acting as the primary adviser to leadership on capacity, utilisation and workforce strategy
  • Providing forward-looking insight on pipeline, demand and resourcing requirements
  • Supporting headcount planning and talent deployment decisions
  • Driving data-led decision making through reporting, analysis and workforce intelligence
  • Identifying innovative resourcing solutions, including flexible talent models, legal technology and AI-enabled approaches
  • Championing fair, balanced and inclusive allocation practices
  • Managing and developing junior members of the Resource Management team
  • Partnering closely with HR to support wellbeing, development, performance and career progression across the practice
  • What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a commercially minded resource management professional who thrives in a fast-paced, complex environment and is confident operating at senior stakeholder level.

You’ll be equally comfortable analysing workforce data, influencing Partners and navigating sensitive people matters with discretion and emotional intelligence.

You’ll bring

  • Proven resource management experience within a professional services, legal or similarly complex environment
  • Previous people management experience and a track record of developing others
  • Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of how resource decisions impact profitability, utilisation and business performance
  • The credibility and confidence to challenge, advise and influence senior stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to turn data into meaningful business insight
  • Strong relationship-building skills and a collaborative approach
  • Sound judgement when managing sensitive, confidential or people-related matters
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively
  • A genuine commitment to inclusion, fairness and equitable allocation practices
  • An appreciation of how legal practices operate and the commercial drivers behind client work
  • What's on offer

This role is based in London office, with a hybrid working model.

Joining Team Linklaters will see you qualify for a range of benefits designed to reward the vital contribution you'll be making to our success.

  • Health & Wellbeing
  • Private Medical Insurance
  • Free in-house fitness centre and subsidised health club memberships
  • Free onsite GP service and periodic health assessments
  • Finance Pension and flexible savings options
  • Income protection and life assurance
  • Mortgage advice and will-writing services
  • Family & Lifestyle
  • Electric car and cycle to work schemes
  • Emergency family care
  • Additional holiday/birthday leave
  • Maternity/paternity/shared parental leave
  • Travel insurance and season ticket loan
  • Option to join sports and social clubs, as well as our employee networks groups (such as our Gender Equality, With Pride, or Social Mobility Networks)
  • Technical Skills

This list of duties and responsibilities above is not exhaustive.

It is intended to describe the general content of, and requirements for, the performance of this job.

As such, the role may also include the undertaking of additional tasks as required.

We know that diversity makes us a better law firm and helps us attract the best talent, drive innovation with diversity of thought, and deliver the best experience to everyone who comes into contact with us.

We recruit on the basis of merit, irrespective of age, disability, gender, gender identity, race or ethnicity, marital status, religion, sex, sexual orientation or any other status protected by the laws or regulations in the locations where we operate.

Selection decisions, and the reasons for those decisions, are recorded at each stage of the selection process.

Selection criteria and, where appropriate, technical skills tests are in place to measure an individual’s ability for the safe and effective performance of a job.

Those involved in recruitment and selection decisions and processes are also provided with guidance on diversity issues.

If you require reasonable adjustments to be made during the selection process, please talk to a member of the recruitment team so that any required adjustments can be made in advance.
