This is an opportunity to join the K&L team as one of two legal assistants (paralegals) based in London within Linklaters’ global Antitrust Foreign and Investment Group. The K&L team works closely with other lawyers in AFIG based in London and other offices in the Linklaters network to provide internal resources, training and produce thought leadership and other client facing materials, including the two blogs which the team manage. In this role, you will be supporting the K&L team, sharing an office with a Knowledge Lawyer within the AFIG team and helping with a variety of tasks, as set out below.

Candidate Requirements

  • Holds a Future Trainee contract;
  • A degree (2.1 or above)
  • Experience of working (through vacation schemes or otherwise) in a legal setting
  • Has a genuine interest in working in a team at a law firm like Linklaters;
  • Is highly motivated to produce excellent work;
  • Has good attention to detail;
  • Can communicate effectively according to different situations;

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring global competition law and foreign investment control trends and developments, as well as recent cases – primarily at UK and EU level. Sources used to complete these tasks will include the regulators’ websites, PLC, and Mlex.
  • Performing various legal research tasks, including to assist writing blog posts and other thought leadership pieces, and helping to prepare presentations and other materials for internal and external use.
  • Sanitising confidential documents to produce non‑confidential versions, ready to be uploaded to the firm’s internal know‑how database.
  • Curating the group’s know‑how intranet page and maintaining and updating various internal resources.

The AFIG K&L team works with the global practice (of around 170 lawyers, led by 31 partners) and has 2-3 lawyers based in London (plus 2 legal assistants), 1 in Paris, 2 in Brussels and 1 in Dusseldorf. In London, the K&L team (including the 2 legal assistants) works closely together and with the rest of the practice.

Linklaters partner with a third‑party provider for the payroll of all contractor and temporary staff. Therefore, upon acceptance of a temporary role at Linklaters, you will be engaged under a contract for services through our preferred third‑party provider. You will not be employed by Linklaters, or have any employment or worker relationship with Linklaters.
