Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Dispensing Optician.
The Dispensing Optician will advise patients on suitable frames and lenses, taking into account prescriptions, lifestyle needs, and visual requirements.
Day-to-day responsibilities include interpreting optical prescriptions, performing accurate measurements and fittings, and ensuring spectacles and other visual aids are correctly adjusted and comfortable.
The role involves providing clear explanations of lens options, coatings, and specialist solutions, as well as supporting optometrists by preparing patients, managing follow-up appointments, and assisting with aftercare.
The Dispensing Optician will also maintain high standards of customer service, handle queries and concerns, and contribute to the smooth operation and presentation of the practice.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of optics and optometry to interpret prescriptions and recommend appropriate visual solutions.
- Experience supporting eye exams and clinical workflows within an optometric or optical practice environment.
- Demonstrated customer service skills with a focus on customer satisfaction and clear communication.
- Ability to perform accurate measurements, fittings, and adjustments of frames and lenses.
- Relevant professional qualification as a Dispensing Optician (e. g., FBDO or equivalent) and registration with the appropriate professional body.
- Attention to detail, good organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team-based, patient-focused setting.
- Comfort with practice management systems and basic IT tools; retail or practice-based sales experience is an advantage.
