The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer with an Electrical Bias to join our engineering team, supporting bakery production sites across the North West of England.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on, proactive engineer who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is confident fault-finding across both electrical and mechanical systems.

You will play a key role in keeping production running efficiently, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance while helping to improve equipment reliability and minimise downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on bakery production and packaging equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults involving motors, sensors, drives, control panels, relays and automation systems.
  • Provide mechanical maintenance and breakdown support when required.
  • Fault-find using electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentation.
  • Maintain and repair equipment including conveyors, mixers, ovens, provers, slicers and packaging machinery.
  • Carry out effective fault diagnosis to minimise production downtime.
  • Support continuous improvement projects focused on equipment reliability and reducing recurring breakdowns.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and report recurring equipment issues.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with site health & safety and food safety procedures.
  • Travel between bakery sites across the North West when required.

Skills & Experience

  • Electrical Engineering qualification such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding skills.
  • Experience with motors, inverters/VSDs, sensors, relays, contactors and control systems.
  • Basic PLC fault-finding experience is advantageous.
  • Good mechanical maintenance and fault-finding ability.
  • Experience working with production and packaging machinery.
  • Food manufacturing, bakery or FMCG experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and schematics.
  • A practical, proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently across multiple sites.
  • Full flexibility to travel across the North West.

You will be a hands-on, reliable and solutions-focused engineer with a strong electrical background and good mechanical skills.

You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, responding quickly to breakdowns while taking a proactive approach to preventative maintenance and continuous improvement.
