About the Role

LRL are currently recruiting for experienced Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineers to join the engineering team in Liverpool.

You will be covering ad‑hoc shifts.

You will be responsible for keeping production running smoothly within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment, while also driving improvements across the site.

This is an excellent opportunity for skilled engineers with a mechanical and electrical background to secure a long‑term role in the food manufacturing sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance, routine servicing, and reactive repair work on all plant and equipment within the bakery.
  • Diagnose and resolve both mechanical and electrical faults to minimise downtime.
  • Complete accurate written reports on maintenance work carried out, highlighting future requirements.
  • Plan and implement continuous improvement ideas to increase plant throughput and efficiency.
  • Ensure timely resolutions to engineering issues in line with production schedules.
  • Work in compliance with site health, safety, hygiene, and quality standards at all times.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications Required

  • Minimum of 2 years' proven experience as a Mechanical or Electrical Engineer.
  • Completed a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship.
  • ONC / NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds Level 2 & 3 (or equivalent qualifications).
  • Experience working with PLC‑controlled process equipment and plant.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Previous engineering experience within a manufacturing business.
  • BTEC Diploma in a relevant engineering subject.
  • Strong competence on production machinery and auxiliary equipment.
  • Knowledge of COSHH regulations.
  • Experience of continuous improvement projects.
  • Basic Food Hygiene certification.
  • Ability to self‑manage, prioritise workload, and meet agreed deadlines.
