This is a high-impact, commercially critical role inside a market-leading engineering and manufacturing business supplying specialist vehicles into the emergency services sector. When this team wins, the business grows. When they lose, everyone feels it. That's why this role matters.
We're looking for someone who knows how to turn technical complexity into commercial wins. Someone who understands public sector procurement, can see straight through weak tender responses, and knows how to build submissions that score. You'll be leading end-to-end bid activity across major tenders, frameworks, DPS submissions, and public sector opportunities-working closely with senior leadership, sales, engineering, production, finance, and operations. This is not a "sit quietly and write" role. You'll challenge stakeholders. You'll improve processes. You'll shape win strategy. You'll own quality. You'll raise standards. And you'll be trusted to do it.
What you'll be doing:
- Leading high-value tender submissions from qualification through to final submission
- Managing PQQs, ITTs, DPS submissions, and framework call-offs
- Writing compelling, compliant, persuasive responses across technical delivery, mobilisation, quality, H&S, ESG, and Social Value
- Building strong social value submissions aligned to TOMs and public sector expectations
- Working directly with senior stakeholders to extract, challenge, and improve bid content
- Strengthening bid processes, content libraries, case studies, and win themes
- Improving submission quality, scoring performance, and overall win rates
What we're looking for:
- Proven experience in Bid Writing, Bid Management, or Tender Management
- Strong public sector tendering experience
- Excellent written communication-clear, persuasive, commercially sharp
- Experience with quality-weighted tenders and formal procurement processes
- Confidence managing senior stakeholders and challenging weak input
- Strong understanding of compliance, deadlines, and bid governance
Bonus points for:
- Emergency services, specialist vehicles, engineering, manufacturing, fleet, defence, utilities, or infrastructure experience
- Strong Social Value / ESG tender experience
- Knowledge of frameworks, portals, and procurement systems
- ISO familiarity (9001 / 14001 / 45001)
Why this role stands out:
Because this isn't a support function. It's a strategic hire. You'll be joining a business where bids genuinely drive revenue, where your work is visible, and where strong performance gets recognised. You won't be hidden in the background. You'll be a key part of how the business wins.
Hybrid working: 3 days office / 2 days WFH
Location: West Yorkshire
Salary: Up to £60,000 depending on experience
If you're the kind of person who reads a tender and immediately spots where competitors will lose marks-we should talk.
