The Role
We are seeking a senior solicitor with strong experience in public law cases with an international element and human rights matters to join Linkilaw on a consultancy basis. You will work on advisory and contentious matters which sit at the intersection of domestic and international public law, often involving politically or reputationally sensitive issues. This role offers genuine opportunity to contribute to the firm’s strategic growth and to build a long-term practice within a refined boutique environment.
Key Areas of Work
- Experience leading or acting on the following types of matters including:
- Contentious matters involving human rights issues;
- Challenges and disputes with public bodies such as the INTERPOL;
- Mutual legal assistance requests and cross-border criminal cooperation;
- Extradition-related matters;
- Judicial review proceedings against public authorities (in England & Wales or internationally);
- Advising in relation to sanctions, regulatory actions, and decisions of public bodies;
- Engagement with international organisations, government agencies, and enforcement authorities;
- Experience acting on matters before the International Court of Justice (ICJ), International Criminal Court (ICC), and European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
This work may involve domestic courts in England and Wales as well as engagement with international bodies and advisors where appropriate.
Who We Are Looking For
- A qualified Solicitor in England and Wales with at least 5 years’ of relevant PQE;
- Demonstrable expertise in both national and international public law and human rights law;
- Experience handling complex cross-border matters involving state authorities or international public bodies;
- Demonstrable experience leading cases with strong client-management, strategic capability, and leadership skills;
- Experience in cases with significant elements of political motivation;
- The ability to operate calmly in a high-stakes environment;
- An understanding of reputational sensitivity;
- Commercial awareness;
- Strong client and case management skills;
- Collaborative, agile, and a team-player, aligned with a meritocratic culture built on integrity and respect.
