The Role
As Optometrist, you will play a key role in delivering comprehensive eye care services while supporting the continued success and growth of the practice. You will work closely with the wider clinical and dispensing teams to ensure every patient receives a high-quality and personalised experience. This role offers the opportunity to work within a clinically focused independent environment, using modern diagnostic equipment while building long-term relationships with patients and the local community.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and contact lens assessments
- Provide additional clinical services in line with qualifications and business needs, including dry eye assessments where appropriate
- Deliver professional and patient-focused care in line with GOC standards
- Advise patients on eye health, lifestyle factors, and preventative care
- Work collaboratively with Dispensing Opticians and support staff to ensure smooth patient journeys
- Make clear and appropriate clinical recommendations tailored to patient needs
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in line with professional and legal requirements
- Utilise specialist diagnostic equipment including OCT, fundus cameras, tonometry, and visual fields
- Participate in clinical governance and quality assurance processes
- Support practice growth through excellent patient care and communication
- Maintain CPD requirements and stay up to date with clinical best practice
Requirements
- BSc (Hons) Optometry or equivalent qualification
- GOC registration as a qualified Optometrist
- Previous clinical experience within community practice
- Additional accreditations such as GRR or Post Cataract are advantageous
- Strong clinical and communication skills
- Patient-centred approach with empathy and professionalism
- Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping standards
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Positive, adaptable, and motivated to continue professional development
