About the Opportunity
Our client is a leading organisation within the UK nuclear sector, delivering complex, high-value projects across fuel reprocessing, next-generation civil nuclear new build, and critical defence programmes. Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, they are seeking Process Engineers at Engineer, Senior Engineer, and Principal Engineer levels to join their expanding teams.
The Role
As a Process Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, and optimisation of complex process systems within highly regulated environments. Responsibilities will vary depending on level but may include:
- Process design and development for nuclear facilities and systems
- Production of key engineering deliverables (e.g., PFDs, P&IDs, mass balances, process calculations)
- Supporting safety case development and hazard identification studies (HAZOP, ALARP assessments, etc.)
- Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Ensuring compliance with nuclear regulatory requirements and industry standards
- Technical problem-solving across the full project lifecycle (concept through to commissioning)
At Senior and Principal levels, additional responsibilities may include:
- Technical leadership and mentoring of junior engineers
- Leading complex work packages or projects
- Stakeholder engagement with clients, regulators, and internal teams
- Driving best practice and continuous improvement
About You
Engineer Level
- Degree qualified in Chemical Engineering or related discipline
- Experience in process engineering within a regulated industry
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Senior Engineer Level
- Significant experience in process engineering roles
- Proven delivery of engineering design work packages
- Experience within highly regulated environments (e.g., nuclear, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals, chemicals)
- Ability to guide and support junior engineers
Principal Engineer Level
- Extensive experience leading process engineering activities
- Strong track record in complex project delivery
- Nuclear industry experience is highly desirable at this level
- Demonstrated leadership, technical authority, and stakeholder management capability
- Chartered engineer (or close to achieving chartership)
Desirable Experience (All Levels)
- Nuclear sector experience
- Experience in safety case development and regulatory compliance
- Familiarity with UK nuclear standards and regulatory frameworks
- Candidates from other highly regulated industries (e.g., oil & gas, petrochemical, pharmaceutical) are strongly encouraged to apply, particularly at Engineer and Senior levels.
