A Bodyshop Vehicle Polisher / Bodywork Oven Rectifier is required for a well-established Vehicle Preparation Centre in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.

SALARY: £29,915 per annum + Benefits

LOCATION: Peterborough, Cambridgeshire

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: Two Shifts Available:

  • SHIFT 1: 06:00 - 15:30 Monday to Friday
  • SHIFT 2: 15:00 - 01:00 Monday to Thursday and 15:00 - 20:00 Friday (10% uplift on Salary)

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Bodyshop Vehicle Polisher / Bodywork Oven Rectifier who has experience polishing vehicles to a high standard and identifying and correcting paint defects that have occurred during or after the vehicle's paint has been cured / baked in a spray booth oven. Working as a Bodyshop Vehicle Polisher / Bodywork Oven Rectifier, you'll be responsible for the polishing of newly painted panels, ensuring a flawless, showroom-quality finish on every vehicle. Your expertise in identifying and rectifying any paint defects such as dust nibs, runs, or orange peel, is paramount. You will be adept at using essential bodyshop tools including DA sanders and polishing mops to achieve exceptional results. You will play a vital part in the vehicle refinishing process, ensuring all work is carried out to the highest industry standards.

DUTIES

  • Precision Paint Polishing: Expert polishing of newly painted panels to achieve a mirror-smooth, high-gloss finish. This includes machine polishing, buffing, and finishing all painted surfaces to showroom quality.
  • Paint Defect Rectification: Rectifying any paint defects such as dust nibs, orange peel, runs, sags, holograms, swirl marks, and minor imperfections. This involves precise wet sanding (flatting), compounding, and refinement to eliminate faults and ensure a flawless final appearance.
  • Proficient Tool Operation: Demonstrating a high level of ability to use DA sanders and polishing mops effectively. This includes selecting the correct abrasives, polishing pads, and compounds for various paint types (e.g., clear coat, solid paint, metallic paint) to achieve optimal results without damaging the finish.
  • Quality Assurance: Consistently ensuring that all work is carried out to the highest quality standards in line with the Bodyshop benchmarks.
  • Workspace Management: Diligently ensuring work areas and tools are kept tidy and in good working order.
  • Commitment to Housekeeping & Safety: Proactively maintain high standards of housekeeping throughout the entire bodyshop, adhering to all health and safety protocols.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • You must have previous experience working as a Polisher / Oven Rectifier within a busy body shop and be a strong team player.
  • Good communicative skills and ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions.
  • You will work to the highest standard and demonstrate a sound up-to-date knowledge of vehicle techniques.
  • Prior experience of working to efficiency targets.
  • Systematic and organised; pays attention to the finer details.
  • Take pride and responsibility for your own appearance as well as the appearance and organisation of the site in which you work.
  • A full, valid UK driving licence is required.
