The town planning (capital delivery team) will support the planning application process from initial advice through to working with project teams and external planning consultants to secure the required planning permissions to ensure our extensive capital programme is delivered on time.Where you fit in As Town Planner you will support the delivery of Yorkshire Waters business strategy which will involve providing town planning advice required for capital projects or operational needs supporting project managers and working closely with external consultants.You will: Be responsible for the provision of professional and technical town planning advice to support the delivery of the capital programme to mitigate planning risk and meet the business strategy. Liaise with Yorkshire Water project managers, construction partners, external planning consultants, and landowners/agents to secure relevant planning permission/certificates of lawfulness/discharge of conditions to deliver capital projects or operational needs. Where appropriate, may be required to submit planning applications or discharge of conditions and/or monitor compliance with permissions/consents and support the business with enforcement matters. Liaise with Yorkshire Water project managers and construction partners to ensure Asset Delivery projects are progressed in line with programme and on budget. Provide professional advice on the planning implications and implementation of biodiversity net gain (BNG) for capital projects to minimise costs and risk to Yorkshire Water and support the Senior Ecologist (Capital Delivery and BNG) As directed by the Estates Planning Manager or Senior Planner, provide town planning support across Yorkshire Waters diverse estate as and when required. Work with the Land & Property team to seek and progress commercial and efficiency opportunities arising from the estate, thinking creatively and innovatively.What skills and qualifications you will need: Professional membership of the RTPI or extensive relevant experience in relation to the preparation, management and negotiation of planning applications and the development management process including permitted development. A track record of delivering results against challenging targets Excellent negotiation skills A demonstrable ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders as well as excellent team working skills. Excellent customer service skills A proven ability to work under pressure to meet tight timescales by good prioritisation and time management skills An extensive knowledge and experience of the legal and regulatory requirements relating to the ownership, management and disposal of land and property including the Code of Practice. Also an understanding of property legislation and processes. Excellent IT skillsThe role will involve travel to different sites across Yorkshire, therefore you will need a UK driving licence with no more than 6 points.We embrace a flexible working model, where our hybrid setup typically requires an average of 1 x day in the office per week. This could be slightly more when collaborative efforts, training or meeting deadlines demand it. As well as a day in the office, you also be required to visit sites.
