This company is seeking a skilled and experienced Toolmaker to join their growing team at their Birmingham Hangar. As a key member of the maintenance and repair operations, the Toolmaker will play a vital role in supporting the company's Part 145 MAOS and 'C' rating capability.
The Toolmaker will be responsible for operating various machine tools, such as lathes and milling machines, to produce precision parts, instruments, and bespoke tooling. This role is essential in ensuring efficient workflows, maintaining quality control, and adhering to safety protocols to deliver projects on time and within budget while meeting customer expectations.
Responsibilities:- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using precision measuring instruments
- Operate machine tools to fabricate parts according to specifications
- Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to requirements
- Set up, adjust, and operate a variety of machine tools to perform precision machining operations
- Study engineering drawings and information to determine the appropriate methods and sequences of operations
- Regrind drills, reamers, and other tools to suit specific demands
- Adapt existing tools to meet the company's requirements
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety protocols
- Maintain a clean and organized workshop environment
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a toolmaker or machinist
- Proficient in operating conventional machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders
- Knowledge of XYZ programming for lathe and milling machine operations
- Strong understanding of jigs, fixtures, and workshop equipment
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and think creatively to solve problems
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Eligible to work and live in the United Kingdom
- Willingness to undergo UK security vetting
