At Metro, its our innovative technologies, pushing of boundaries, and most importantly, our employees that sets us apart.About the role:We are looking for a motivated and forward-thinking Talent Development Lead to take ownership of our direct recruitment strategy, build a strong talent pipeline, and help shape our approach to internal talent development. This is a varied role that combines hands-on recruitment, people development projects, and strategic input into how we grow and retain talent across the business.You’ll play a key part in leading recruitment activities, developing our early careers and future talent programmes, and working closely with the Head of Organisational Development to support wider talent initiatives and career pathways.Key Responsibilities:Recruitment & Talent Pipelining:Lead direct recruitment activity across all business areas, with a focus on proactive sourcingUse LinkedIn Recruiter to identify, approach, and engage top talent for current and future rolesBuild and maintain talent pools to support workforce planning and business growthOwnership of the end-to-end recruitment process, from advertising through to offer and onboardingDevelop strong working relationships with hiring managers and external agencies where neededPromote the employer brand through online presence, campaigns and candidate engagementTalent & Development Projects:Liaise with the Head of Organisational Development to support the development of internal talent pathways and career development frameworksContribute to people-focused projects such as onboarding, succession planning, and engagement initiativesSupport the continuous improvement of our recruitment and onboarding experienceHelp shape and implement development initiatives that support learning, growth and internal mobilityFuture Talent Programmes:Take ownership of future talent programmes including Work Experience, Apprenticeships, and Graduate schemesCoordinate outreach to schools, colleges, and universities to promote opportunitiesDevelop and manage structured onboarding and development pathways for early careers talentBuild and maintain relationships with external providers and internal stakeholdersHR Administration & Coordination:Maintain accurate records in line with HR and data protection requirementsSupport HR systems and process development in recruitment and onboarding areasProvide support for recruitment and learning-related activityWhat We’re Looking ForStrong experience in direct recruitment, with proven success using LinkedIn Recruiter to identify and engage talentConfident in managing full recruitment cycles and working proactively with stakeholdersExperience or strong interest in learning and development or organisational developmentExcellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple prioritiesComfortable taking initiative and bringing forward ideas to improve candidate and employee experienceStrong written and verbal communication skillsTech-savvy, with good knowledge of MS Office and applicant tracking systemsDesirableExperience working with or leading early careers programmes (e.g. apprenticeships, work placements, graduate schemes)Experience working in freight forwarding, logistics, or a fast-paced commercial environmentWhy choose Metro?Competitive salary including a bonus which is paid twice a year!Access to our benefits, discounts and wellness platform including offers on gym memberships, a wide range of restaurants, retail and much more.Health cash plan.Octopus Electric Vehicle car scheme.Free parking.Respectful working environment.Plenty of opportunities for training and developmentWe are looking for candidates who are happy to work in the office full-time during regular business hours.
