A leading specialist contractor with in-house steelwork capability is seeking an experienced Steelwork Detailer to join their growing technical team. This hands-on role involves working on complex structural steel and temporary works packages, where your detailed drawings will directly inform what gets fabricated and built.
The Role
- Produce detailed fabrication and erection drawings using Tekla Structures
- Accurately model steelwork assemblies, connections, and components to suit fabrication and site conditions
- Generate GA drawings, material lists, bolt lists, and CNC files
- Liaise closely with engineers, fabricators, and site teams to resolve design and detailing queries
- Apply a buildability-focused approach to all outputs, ensuring accuracy and practicality
- Ensure models and drawings comply with relevant codes, client standards, and internal QA procedures
The Ideal Candidate
- Proven steelwork detailing experience
- Proficient in Tekla Structures (essential)
- Strong understanding of steel fabrication, erection methods, and connection types
- Familiar with Eurocodes and UK industry standards
- Skilled at interpreting structural engineering drawings and calculations
- Highly detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Experience working in a Tier 2 or subcontractor environment preferred
