Special Education Coordinator (SENDCo)Part-time (3 days)HackneyPrimary School1 form-entryStart Date: September 2025QTS + SENDCO qualification requiredA diverse primary school in Hackney are looking for a qualified SENDCo to join their school on a part-time basis from September 2025.The roleAs the SENDCo you be part of the leadership team for this diverse inner-city school. You will be responsible for coordinating all the support for children with Special Educational Needs and or Disabilities (SEND) and developing the school’s SEND Policy with the senior leadership team to make sure all children get a consistent, high-quality response to meeting their needs in school. The SENDCo is pivotal in making sure all pupils make progress and are supported and cared for appropriately across the whole school. This is a non-class-based position although teaching intervention groups is expected.Your role will include:Updating the school’s SEND recordSupporting parents to be fully involved in supporting their child’s learning including planning regular information updates and reviews.Liaising with outside agenciesProviding specialist support for teachers and support staff in the schoolWork alongside class teachers to write Personal Learning Plans (PLP) that specify the targets for individual pupils.Preparing Education, Health and Care PlansOrganising training for staff so they are aware and confident about how to meet the needs of pupils within the school.Planning and leading SEND Intervention groupsESSENTIAL: The school are looking for a SENDCo with previous experience in a Hackney school.Interviews will be held before the end of the academic year.The SchoolThis popular, culturally and ethnically diverse primary school is based in Hackney with good transport links. The school is part of a federation who believe in the value of a fully rounded education. Pupils have access to experiences, arts, sporting activities and life experiences alongside good quality, academic learning.Whilst the 3 schools in the federation operate independently on a day-to-day basis, they work closely together to make sure all pupils have a consistent learning experience. There is a sensible approach to work/life balance for staff and support from leadership teams in the schools is excellent. Consequently, the overall feel of the schools across the federation is positive and harmonious.
