Our business has continued to grow exponentially, and we are seeking a Softgoods Prototyping Specialist (m/f/d) to join our team. The Softgoods Prototyping Specialist is responsible for developing and constructing soft goods samples for strollers, car seats, and other nursery products. Working closely with the design and engineering teams, this role involves hands-on creation of 3D sewn prototypes, pattern development, and iterative testing to ensure fit, function, and aesthetic alignment with the product frame. The specialist translates design concepts into functional samples, problem-solving for construction challenges, seam placement, and material behaviour. This role bridges creative design with technical execution, supporting the full product development process from concept to production-ready sample.
What you'll do:
- Sew and assemble softgoods prototypes using industrial sewing equipment and materials
- Develop and adjust patterns, die cuts, and templates to match product structures and design intent
- Collaborate with designers and engineers to refine fit, function, and user interaction
- Problem-solving construction challenges include frame integration, seam durability, and fabric tension
- Maintain accurate documentation of revisions and technical changes
- Support sample handovers and liaison with manufacturing partners when needed
What you'll bring:
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in sewing or soft goods prototyping (ideally beyond garment construction)
- Preferably experience working with baby gear, upholstery, or 3D sewn products such as pushchairs or car seats
- Skilled in industrial sewing techniques, pattern cutting, and creating templates for non-garment products
- Experience working with various fabric types, foams, and technical materials
- Confident interpreting technical drawings and adapting designs to physical form
- Proactive and solutions-focused, with a hands-on approach to problem solving
