The Role: We are thrilled to welcome a Senior Earthing Design Engineer to our expanding Earthing Division. This is an exciting opportunity where you will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams (EHV, Electrical, Protection, Civils and Contractors) on large- and small-scale infrastructure projects across Multi-Utility, EHV and the EVC industries. Works involve designing above and below ground earthing systems for renewables (solar, wind), generation, BESS, and Substations 400kV-LV for TNOs, DNOs and Private sites. There are also opportunities to be involved in AC Interference Studies, Impressed Voltage Studies, Lightning Risk Assessments and Lightning Protection Design. The role is predominantly office/home based and site surveys are not part of typical duties.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Manage projects from tendering, design to commission
- Ensure designs meet the relevant UK standards and regulations
- Review and approve Earthing Designs within Earthing Division including DACI MU/Electrical Divisions and IDNOs
- Support and mentor Graduate and Junior Engineers, engineers from other divisions and Earthing Site Technicians
- Effective planning ensuring all projects are completed within budget and time
- Tendering for works
- Building and maintaining excellent customer relations
- Provide technical support to contractors and ICPs
- Actively involved in developing and growing the Earthing Division
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent technical experience in Electrical Engineering (or similar)
- Varied experience in design and studies across the earthing industry incl. knowledge of specialist equipment (BESS, Solar, generators, turbines)
- Expert user in CDEGS and relevant modules (MALZ, HIFREQ, TRALIN, SPLITS)
- Expert knowledge of UK standards, regulations and DNO policies
- Proficient in AutoCAD
- Strong proficiency in English, both verbal and written
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues
Desirable Experience:
- Working Knowledge of other modelling software (e.g. EMTP-ATP, XGSLab)
- Site work experience - Soil Resistivity Measurements, Earth Resistance Measurements and Earthing Compliance Surveys
- Experience in Lightning Risk Assessments and Lightning Protection Design
- Working towards or have achieved CEng status with IET
