CK Group are working in partnership with a leading UK life sciences biotechnology company to recruit for an experienced Bacteriologist with previous expertise in lab start-ups, to join them at their site based in London, on a permanent basis.
The Company: An industry-leading clinical development services business, based in London.
The Role: Primarily laboratory based, you will provide scientific expertise in the development and validation of microbiology assays. To assist in the scientific mentorship and scientific staff development as well as conducting study plans, report reviews and data analysis. Support and take ownership of delivery of clients R&D projects. Ensure all work maintains compliance with Good Clinical Practice and Good Clinical Practice for Laboratories (GCP and GCLP).
Other Responsibilities Include:
- Preparing and reviewing study protocols.
- Provide training and mentoring of junior staff.
- Attend conferences, client meetings etc.
Your Background:
- PhD qualified in relevant scientific subject plus relevant post-doc research microbiology experience (ESSENTIAL).
- Expertise and understanding in bacteria growth, the biology of pathogens and have molecular experience in assay development (ESSENTIAL).
- Experience in developing and validating clinical endpoint testing for bacterial infectious diseases such as spot and spread plating.
- Evidence to show ability to set up a microbiology bio lab from scratch and project managing the assay development and validation in the context of the microbiology field.
- Experienced in applying theoretical and working knowledge of microbiology.
- Good understanding of working in a regulated environment (GCP, GCLP).
