Our aim is to become the antibody drug developer of choice for the UK’s venture backed biotech start-ups and outsourced pharma projects.RxBiologics has an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated scientist to join us and help develop our services to support our growing client base. The position is based within the RxBiologics team, working at the Babraham Research Campus, a leading site within the Cambridge biotechnology hub. The RoleThe successful candidate will join our team of scientists supporting client antibody drug discovery programmes and internal technical development. They will primarily perform experiments to support antibody isolation projects, utilising molecular biology techniques, phage display selections and antibody characterisation assays but will additionally provide support in other areas as required. A strong interest in antibody drug discovery, proactive approach and drive to learn new skills is key for this position. RxBiologics will provide practical training in antibody discovery processes and techniques. This is a full-time lab-based role, and the candidate will report into a senior member of the team. Main Responsibilities• Performing antibody phage display selections and screening to support internal and external programmes.• Provision of support to protein sciences and assay development functions.• Analysis of data to enable selection of best antibody candidates.• Reporting of work to line manager and the science team.• Maintenance of accurate experimental records and delivery of high-quality reports. • Laboratory support to ensure the smooth operation of the laboratories.Essential Skills/Requirements• A PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant biological science and preferably at least a year’s laboratory-based experience gained within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical sector.• Skilled in molecular biology and microbiological techniques such as PCR, cloning, gel electrophoresis, DNA sequence analysis and aseptic cell culture.• Experience of plate-based assays e.g. ELISA, and/or homogeneous assay formats.• A working knowledge of antibody discovery processes, with phage display an advantage.• Practical mammalian cell culture and flow cytometry experience is an advantage.• Demonstrated ability to plan, conduct and analyse experimental work to a high standard. • Ability to optimise and troubleshoot experiments under guidance.• A flexible approach to work with excellent organisation and prioritisation skills. • Enjoys working independently and as part of a dynamic team.• Good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.• Demonstrates our Company values of Agile and Collaborative, Courage and Innovation, Excellence, Vibrant and Compassionate.
