Oversee and coordinate MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing) design activities across both pre- and post-contract phases, ensuring technical quality, commercial viability, and buildability. Act as the key technical advisor to pre-construction and operations teams, supporting bids, managing design consultants, and ensuring alignment with client, cost, and programme requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesLead technical input for tenders, including writing MEP technical answers and filling design gaps.Review tender documentation for quality, risks, and value engineering opportunities.Appoint and manage design consultants, negotiate fees, and monitor performance against programmes.Coordinate all design-related activities across stakeholders, supply chain, and internal teams.Oversee risk management, cost control, and design compliance with legislation and company standards.Provide technical guidance during construction when the original designer is no longer involved.Support commissioning reviews, buildability assessments, and integration of supply chain solutions.Represent engineering in meetings, interviews, and presentations.Maintain strong client relationships and act as the single point of contact for design matters.Skills & Experience RequiredStrong MEP engineering and design management background, ideally in both preconstruction and delivery.Experience in tender/bid technical writing and designer appointments (BSRIA BG6 knowledge).Advanced IT and BIM skills, with knowledge of design, quality, and environmental procedures.Commercial awareness, ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure, and a detail-focused approach.Strong communication, relationship-building, and leadership skills.Professional, proactive, and innovative mindset.Location & PackageLondon-based (Eastcheap), full-time, £67k–£75k, BPSS clearance required.
