Salary: £32,000 - £42,000

As a Field Communications Engineer you will join a team of dedicated, ambitious engineers in providing a high level of technical expertise and customer service to our clients. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in the telecoms/datacoms industry and a working knowledge of IP networking with a desire to learn new skills and progress in their career. You will be responsible for the installation and support of both hosted telephony and IT/datacoms systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Installation and support of telecoms and IT/datacoms systems
  • Using Supplier Portals to manage systems and faults
  • Responsible for generating, monitoring, and handling customer requests, issues, and fault reports
  • Undertaking surveys and support for technical installation projects
  • Provide liaison and guidance to customers and 3rd party IT professionals to ensure quality delivery and support of our solutions
  • Produce detailed technical documentation on system installation and support procedures
  • Providing customer training
  • Working closely with the service delivery and project teams

Skills Required:

  • Understanding of VoIP, SIP, RTP, TCP & UDP protocols, Layer 2 and 3 routing, VLANs, QoS DNS, DHCP, LANs & WANs and familiarity with using diagnostics tools such as Wireshark
  • Experience and or Knowledge of telecommunications solutions including call center and call recording applications. For example, Gamma Horizon/call centre, Microsoft Teams, SpliceCom and Wildix – full training provided where necessary
  • Minimum of 2 years IT or Telecoms support experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, on the phone, in person and electronically
  • Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Experience in high-volume, fast-paced environments requiring teamwork and flexibility
  • Knowledge of structured cabling - CAT5/6
  • Ability to track and keep projects on schedule, manage tight deadlines, and shift priorities at a moment's notice
  • Full UK driving license
