MDE Group is supporting a renewable EPC contractor in recruiting a Project Manager as their pipeline continues to grow. Specialising in delivering large-scale solar and energy storage projects, this company is committed to advancing sustainability and contributing to the UK’s transition to cleaner energy.
The Ideal Candidate
MDE are seeking someone with prior experience of delivering utility-scale solar assets in the UK. We need someone who understands the challenges faced in the UK renewable construction environment and is able to carry themselves well. You will need to be highly organised, detail-orientated, and skilled in managing complex projects, with a proven track record in solar and energy storage project delivery in the UK.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Manage the complete lifecycle of large-scale solar and energy storage projects, from RTB to commissioning.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, contractors, and regulatory bodies for seamless project execution.
- Oversee grid connection processes (if included in the contract), liaising with National Grid and DNOs.
- Plan and coordinate logistics and resources for efficient project delivery.
- Support procurement in contractor selection, manage EPC contracts, and supervise on-site construction.
- Monitor budgets, track expenditures, and report to project finance teams.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local communities, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
Requirements
- Engineering or PM qualifications AND/OR 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
- Proven experience in managing utility-scale solar PV and energy storage projects (30 MW).
- Experienced with grid connection processes.
- Strong logistics and resource planning skills for large-scale projects.
- Hands-on experience in EPC and contractor management.
- Expertise in managing large CAPEX budgets.
- Comprehensive knowledge of health, safety, and environmental standards in renewables.
- Exceptional organisational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
