Are you an experienced senior leader in construction or energy project delivery with a passion for decarbonisation and public sector innovation? This could be the next step in your leadership journey.Oliver Sanderson is partnering with a leading engineering services organisation to appoint a Project Director to lead and expand a growing programme of projects across local authority contracts in the North of England.This is a high-impact leadership role reporting to the senior operational board. You will oversee the end-to-end delivery of complex construction and retrofit projects, while steering business growth and building a Regional Centre of Excellence.Key areas of focus:Lead and grow a portfolio of public sector decarbonisation and minor works projects.Deliver projects from feasibility, planning and funding applications through to construction and handover.Support commercial and contractual negotiations, ensuring alignment with project goals and legal obligations.Ensure financial control and accountability, including oversight of project P&Ls, budget forecasting, and cost management.Manage complex budgets, business plans and commercial performance.Lead and inspire a high-performing team of operational, commercial and technical staff.Foster strong relationships with local authority clients and ensure contract compliance.Oversee internal governance, risk management and stakeholder reporting.Skills & Experience:Experience in project or programme management, with a proven track record in the construction industry or similar.Demonstrable expertise in delivering multi-million-pound programmes across multiple sites and stakeholder groups.Strong leadership, people management and mentoring skills, with the ability to build and manage integrated teams.In-depth understanding of procurement, risk management, and financial control.Excellent client and stakeholder management capabilities, with a proactive and solutions-focused approach.Solid knowledge of relevant health, safety, and building legislation.Experience working with local authority is preferred.JCT or NEC experience is desirable.This is a unique opportunity to join a forward-thinking, socially conscious organisation committed to helping local communities decarbonise and transform their built environments.This is a hybrid role with frequent travel around the north of England for site visits etc.This role has an exciting package on offer.If this opportunity resonates with your career aspirations and you have the skillset required, apply today!Oliver Sanderson is an award-winning executive search firm recognised for path-breaking contributions to ED&I and digital recruitment innovation by the House of Lords, Global Recruiter, APSCo, the Recruiter Awards, the Global Business Tech Awards, and featured in the 2022 Platinum Jubilee Album for a \"transformational contribution\" to UK business.
