Policy and Research Intern – Social Care12-month fixed-term contract | £24,570 annual salary | Full-time | Coventry (hybrid working considered) The National Care Forum (NCF) is the leading voice for not-for-profit care providers. We support our members to improve social care provision and enhance the quality of life, choice, control, and wellbeing of people who use care services. Our members deliver a wide range of services including home care, housing with care, day care, intermediate care, outreach, dementia care, residential and nursing care, and specialist provision for people with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs, and physical disabilities. We are looking for a motivated Policy & Research Intern to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the not-for-profit care sector, working alongside experts to influence policy, support members, and contribute to meaningful research. What you’ll doSupport the Workforce and Research Lead with policy and employment projects, including analysis of emerging workforce issues.Monitor and synthesise evidence, producing clear, concise briefing notes, reports, and research summaries.Contribute to NCF’s campaigning and influencing work by drafting policy briefings, press statements, blogs, and web content.Assist with the coordination of our research portfolio, including liaising with academic partners, managing timelines, and recruiting participants.Provide project support to help NCF members engage in and benefit from research opportunities.Support wider NCF communications, events, and meetings with stakeholders, members, and government officials. About youWe’re looking for someone with:Strong policy, research, and analysis skills, with the ability to distil complex information into accessible outputs.Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and the confidence to share ideas.Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.A collaborative approach, with the ability to work both in a team and independently.Enthusiasm for the social care sector and an interest in workforce and employment policy.Good IT skills, especially with Microsoft Office.Desirable: Experience using research tools such as survey software or data analysis (e.g. Excel).
