We are representing a scaling B2B FinTech that provides core decisioning infrastructure for the global financial services sector. Their enterprise SaaS technology enables major lenders to modernise their credit assessment processes, allowing for more efficient deployment of capital to the commercial sector. By integrating sophisticated data layers into traditional banking workflows, they are significantly improving how credit is optimised and distributed to businesses.

We are looking for a product minded Principal Engineer to serve as the ultimate technical authority and strategic advisor across multiple product squads.

Location: Remote-friendly (UK). The team values flexibility, with an expectation to attend high-level strategy meetings occasionally.

Salary & Package: £140,000 + Equity, 25 days leave (plus Bank Holidays), 4x Life Assurance, Private GP, and a comprehensive rewards scheme.

What You'll Be Driving

  • Technical Governance: Acting as the trusted authority on architecture, ensuring systems are flexible, scalable, and resilient.
  • Platform Evolution: Leading the design of robust functionality, including developer-friendly APIs, intricate domain modeling, and data integrations.
  • Strategic Problem Solving: Identifying cross-cutting technical hurdles and driving the adoption of solutions across the entire engineering organisation.
  • High-Bar Mentorship: Setting the gold standard for collaboration, from technical coaching to providing exceptionally clear documentation and code reviews.
  • Product Collaboration: Working alongside Product Managers to turn business goals into elite-level software.

Your Experience & Expertise

  • Consistent Senior Leadership: You have a proven track record of continuous experience in a Senior Staff, Principal or Architect capacity.
  • Back-End Mastery: Extensive professional background working with the JVM ecosystem (specifically Java or Kotlin).
  • Modern Web & Orchestration: Ideally you will have proficiency in JavaScript frameworks and experience with workflow engines.
  • Cloud-Native Data: Solid experience architecting on AWS and managing both relational and document-based data stores like Postgres and MongoDB.
  • Delivery Standards: You are a champion of automated testing and deployment pipelines, with deep expertise in TDD and CI/CD workflows.
  • Complex Domains: Ideally, you have navigated the world of SaaS within regulated environments, understanding the nuances of data protection and multi-tenant security.
