Service Care Solutions are working in partnership with a leading independent mental health provider to recruit a Consultant Psychiatrist for medico-legal work. This is an excellent opportunity to undertake high-quality, independent psychiatric assessments supporting legal proceedings within a well-established, clinician-led service.

Through Service Care Solutions, you will join a specialist medico-legal team delivering comprehensive psychiatric reports for a range of legal cases. The service is known for producing clear, evidence-based, and court-compliant reports, with a strong emphasis on clinical accuracy, professionalism, and timely delivery.

This role offers flexible working, with remote and face-to-face assessments available, alongside full administrative support allowing you to focus on clinical work without unnecessary administrative burden.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments for medico-legal purposes
  • Review medical records and relevant documentation to inform clinical opinion
  • Produce high-quality medico-legal reports that are clear, structured and defensible
  • Provide expert opinion on diagnosis, prognosis, capacity and treatment recommendations
  • Work in line with medico-legal standards, clinical governance and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with administrative and clinical teams to ensure smooth case management

Requirements

  • GMC-registered Consultant Psychiatrist with a valid licence to practice
  • CCT in Psychiatry
  • Previous or current experience within medico-legal assessments (desirable but not essential)
  • Strong report-writing skills with the ability to produce clear, evidence-based documentation
  • Experience assessing adults across a range of mental health conditions
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining high clinical standards
  • Up-to-date with revalidation and appraisal requirements
