Do you want to work in the beautiful County of Northumberland, supporting adult residents who have a range of disabilities due to physical health, age related deterioration, learning disability, or mental health condition, to improve their overall health and wellbeing through effective, efficient service provision?

We are looking for an Occupational Therapist (OT) who has supervisory and/or team manager experience to join our Adult Social Care Countywide Occupational Therapy service. We have an exciting opportunity for an OT to support our Countywide OT service in a dynamic OT Team Manager role.

We want someone who:

  • Is flexible and adaptable in their work
  • Able to lead and manage the day-to-day needs of busy OT teams
  • Triage referrals and effectively allocate to team members or signpost to the appropriate service
  • Provide day-to-day informal support as well as regular supervision and appraisal
  • Undertake quality audits of routine work and participate in targeted audit work as needed
  • Provide support to Senior Managers and Head of Service with strategic planning and implementation of service improvements
  • Have responsibility for the evaluation and decision making for non-standard equipment, major and minor adaptation requests up to a designated budget responsibility level and escalation as appropriate for requests above designated level

The post is with Northumberland Adult Social Care County Wide OT service. Our teams are countywide and consist of qualified Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants and Technical Instructors. We consistently achieve high standards in providing Occupational Therapy for the residents of Northumberland.

Northumberland County Council is committed to supporting Occupational Therapists to develop confidence and capability within adult social care practice. All Occupational Therapy team managers will complete a structured team manager competency framework to support learning and development.

Due to being a countywide service, the post holder base will be confirmed at appointment. There is the opportunity to work agile from other Northumberland County Council sites across the county as required. The post is full time, permanent, and the salary is Northumberland County Council Band 11 £56,233 - £60,010.

  • A professional Occupational Therapy qualification e.g., Degree (BSc (Hons), MSc) in Occupational Therapy, Diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • Valid HCPC registration
  • Highly specialised knowledge and expertise in the delivery of Occupational Therapy services
  • Practice Placement Qualification and experience of undertaking student placements
  • Significant experience of team management including appraisal and supervision
  • Extensive experience in adult social or health care, for clients with Physical disabilities, Learning disabilities and mental health diagnosis

The post is County Wide and holding a valid UK driving licence and having access to a car is essential.
