At Lyphe, our mission is to bring medical cannabis to those with unmet clinical needs. As a UK-based clinic operating within a highly regulated environment, we are committed to delivering safe, ethical, and evidence-informed care to patients with chronic and treatment-resistant conditions.

We are seeking experienced Specialist Consultants to join us on a contractor basis, providing independent clinical services via telemedicine. This role offers a high degree of autonomy and flexibility, suited to established clinicians who are confident working independently while contributing to a collaborative MDT.

As a consulting clinician, you will assess, diagnose, and prescribe CBPMs in line with UK legislation and best practice (GMC, NICE). You will take a holistic approach to patient care, recognising the complexity of treatment-resistant conditions and the importance of personalised treatment pathways beyond conventional options.

This is an opportunity to work within an evolving area of medicine. We are looking for clinicians who are open to innovation, engaged with emerging evidence, and committed to high standards of clinical governance and patient safety.

Please note this is a self-employed contractor role, and clinicians must hold appropriate professional indemnity insurance and maintain their own registrations and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial and follow-up consultations via telemedicine
  • Assess patient suitability for CBPMs through detailed review of medical history and prior treatments
  • Prescribe CBPMs in line with UK legislation and GMC/NICE guidance
  • Develop personalised treatment plans and monitor efficacy and safety
  • Manage complex and treatment-resistant conditions using a holistic approach
  • Maintain accurate, compliant clinical records (e.g. Meddbase or similar)
  • Work collaboratively within an MDT (GPs, pharmacists, nurses, IPs)
  • Participate in clinical governance activities (audits, peer review, case discussions)
  • Contribute to MDT case reviews where appropriate
  • Stay up to date with developments in cannabinoid medicine and regulatory changes
Essential Qualifications
  • Full registration and licence to practise with the General Medical Council (GMC)
  • Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register (e.g. Pain, Neurology, Oncology, Psychiatry)
  • Medical degree with CCT (or equivalent)
  • Valid professional indemnity insurance suitable for private practice
Desirable Qualifications
  • CPD or postgraduate training in cannabinoid medicine
  • Certification or training in CBPM prescribing
  • Experience in clinical research, audit, or publication
  • Membership of relevant Royal College
Essential Experience
  • Experience managing complex/chronic or treatment-resistant conditions
  • Strong evidence-based clinical decision-making
  • Experience in a regulated healthcare environment (e.g. CQC)
  • Experience delivering care via telemedicine
  • Commitment to safe, ethical, patient-centred prescribing
Desirable Experience
  • Experience in medical cannabis or private healthcare
  • Experience prescribing Controlled Drugs (CDs), ideally CBPMs
  • Understanding of UK regulatory frameworks (incl. Home Office requirements)
  • Background in pain, neurology, psychiatry, oncology, or palliative care
  • Involvement in innovative or emerging treatment approaches
Key Skills
  • Strong communication and patient engagement
  • Ability to build rapport and manage sensitive discussions
  • High level of clinical judgement and risk assessment
  • Strong organisation and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and within an MDT
  • Adaptable in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Additional Requirements
  • UK-based and eligible to prescribe in the UK
  • Comfortable working in a private telehealth model
  • Strong understanding of clinical governance, audit, and prescribing accountability
  • Awareness of UK CBPM regulatory landscape (incl. CDs/Home Office)
  • Commitment to ongoing CPD
  • Confident discussing non-traditional treatment pathways
