The Opportunity
We're supporting an innovative energy infrastructure business delivering cutting-edge distributed energy and battery storage projects across multiple utility networks. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of projects, we are seeking an experienced Senior Grid Connection Engineer to support grid connection activities across complex distributed energy and power infrastructure schemes.
This is ideally suited to a contractor or consultant with deep expertise in DNO/utility application processes, grid compliance, and detailed electrical design.
The Role
You'll take ownership of grid connection activities from early-stage feasibility through to detailed design and utility approval, supporting the delivery of large-scale distributed energy and battery storage programmes. The role will involve close coordination with utilities/DNOs, ICPs, design teams, and project stakeholders to ensure successful grid integration and timely approvals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead grid connection applications and utility engagement activities
- Manage end-to-end DNO/DSO application processes
- Produce and review detailed electrical designs and connection documentation
- Coordinate protection studies, load flow studies, and connection assessments
- Support HV/LV network integration for distributed energy and battery storage projects
- Liaise directly with utility engineers and approval bodies
- Review G99/G100 compliance requirements and associated technical submissions
- Support project delivery teams through design, construction, energisation, and commissioning phases
- Identify programme risks relating to grid capacity, utility constraints, and connection timelines
Requirements
- Extensive experience within grid connections, power systems, or utility infrastructure
- Strong working knowledge of DNO application processes and utility interfaces
- Proven experience delivering detailed electrical design work
- Experience across battery energy storage, renewable energy, EV infrastructure, or distributed generation projects
- Strong understanding of HV/LV systems and grid compliance requirements
- Familiarity with G99/G100 processes and utility standards
- Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced project environment
- Consultancy, ICP, utility, or developer-side experience considered
