Start building a career in BMS commissioning. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong hands-on site experience, electrical knowledge and a genuine interest in Building Management Systems. You do not need to be the finished article. Some BMS commissioning experience would be highly valued, but the most important thing is that you are comfortable working on-site, understand electrical environments and are keen to develop into a strong commissioning engineer.

You will gain exposure to real BMS projects across commercial buildings, schools, retail environments and more complex sites. You will be working alongside experienced engineers who understand how to bring systems online properly and make sure they perform in the real world.

What you will be doing:

  • You will support the commissioning and delivery of BMS systems across live customer sites.
  • You will be involved in supporting BMS commissioning engineers on-site.
  • Assisting with point-to-point checks, panel checks and system validation.
  • Helping bring BMS systems online under supervision.
  • Working with control panels, field devices, sensors, valves, actuators and HVAC plant.
  • Supporting functional testing and basic fault finding.
  • Assisting with documentation, snagging and handover information.
  • Learning how BMS systems integrate with HVAC, lighting and wider building systems.
  • Working closely with electricians, project teams, site managers and clients.

As you develop, you will be given more ownership across commissioning tasks, troubleshooting and system delivery.

What you will be working on:

Projects range from commercial buildings and schools through to more complex environments such as data centres. You will also contribute to work delivered alongside major organisations, including Schneider Electric and Equinix, where performance and reliability are important. This is a hands-on site role, so you should be comfortable travelling to different locations, working with live building systems and learning directly from experienced engineers.

Qualifications:

This role would suit someone early in their BMS career, or someone from an electrical or on-site engineering background who wants to move further into BMS commissioning. You will likely bring:

  • Some BMS, controls or commissioning exposure, ideally but not essential.
  • Strong on-site experience in electrical, HVAC, building services or controls environments.
  • Good understanding of electrical systems, panels, wiring or field devices.
  • Confidence using tools and working safely on customer sites.
  • A willingness to learn BMS platforms, control strategies and commissioning processes.
  • Good communication skills with engineers, site teams and clients.
  • A practical, problem-solving mindset.
  • Experience with systems such as Trend, Tridium, Siemens, Schneider or Honeywell would be useful, but is not essential.

What matters here:

  • You are reliable, practical and willing to learn.
  • You are comfortable working on customer sites and dealing with real-world site conditions.
  • You have strong electrical or hands-on engineering foundations.
  • You care about doing the job properly, not just getting through a checklist.
  • You can listen, ask questions and take instruction from senior engineers.
  • You want to build a long-term career in BMS commissioning.

Benefits/Additional Info:

Why this role is worth considering: This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to grow into the BMS space properly. You will get:

  • Hands-on exposure to real BMS commissioning work.
  • Training and guidance from experienced engineers.
  • Experience across a variety of commercial and technical environments.
  • A pathway into a growing industry driven by energy efficiency, data centres and decarbonisation.
  • The chance to work for an established business with a strong reputation in the market.

Location and travel:

This role is mostly based on customer sites. Projects can be anywhere in the UK, often in and around London and the Home Counties, but not limited to those areas. Candidates should ideally be based within the surrounding Princes Risborough area, or within a realistic 40 to 55 minute commute of the Princes Risborough office. Visits to the Princes Risborough office are only required as and when needed.

Practical bits:

A full UK driving licence and access to a reliable personal vehicle are required for travel between sites. A CSCS card is required. PASMA and IPAF would be useful, but are not essential.
