An ambitious and growing healthcare and social care provider is seeking an experienced Group Managing Director to lead and scale a diverse portfolio of regulated services across:

  • Learning Disabilities (LD)
  • Mental Health (MH)
  • Children's Services
  • Adult Services
  • Supported Living
  • Independent Mental Health Services
  • Complex Care

This is a high-impact executive leadership opportunity for a commercially astute and operationally strong leader with proven experience in multi-site healthcare and social care environments. The successful candidate will drive strategic growth, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and quality outcomes across the Group.

The Group Managing Director will hold overall responsibility for the strategic, operational, financial, and governance performance of the organisation. You will lead senior operational and clinical teams, build strong commissioner and stakeholder relationships, and ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred care across all services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership
    • Lead the overall strategic direction of the organisation.
    • Drive sustainable growth, acquisitions, and new service development.
    • Develop strong partnerships with NHS bodies, local authorities, ICBs, and commissioners.
    • Identify market opportunities across healthcare and social care sectors.
    • Support long-term organisational scalability and performance.
  • Operational Leadership
    • Oversee multi-site operational delivery across all divisions.
    • Ensure high standards of care, compliance, and service delivery.
    • Improve occupancy, staffing performance, and operational efficiency.
    • Lead service improvement and turnaround initiatives where required.
    • Establish clear accountability and performance frameworks.
  • Quality & Governance
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory frameworks including:
      • CQC
      • Mental Health Act
      • Mental Capacity Act
      • Safeguarding standards
      • Ofsted requirements (where applicable)
    • Lead governance, quality assurance, and risk management frameworks.
    • Embed continuous improvement and learning cultures across the organisation.
  • Financial & Commercial Leadership
    • Hold full P&L responsibility across the Group.
    • Deliver strong EBITDA and sustainable financial performance.
    • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and commercial strategy.
    • Lead commissioner negotiations and commercial partnerships.
    • Drive revenue growth and occupancy improvements.
  • Leadership & Culture
    • Lead and develop a high-performing executive team.
    • Build a strong organisational culture focused on accountability, quality, and compassion.
    • Support workforce planning, leadership development, and retention strategies.
    • Promote staff engagement and organisational values across all services.

    • Senior executive leadership experience within healthcare or social care.
    • Proven track record managing multi-site regulated services.

    • Strong commercial and financial management capability.
