This is a fantastic opportunity to work within the Hardware Engineering team based in Dundee. This is a multi-discipline team developing and supporting complex Mechatronic devices used in banking machines (ATMs) that are deployed worldwide.
We are seeking a Mechanical Analysis Engineer who will work as part of a cross-functional design team on development projects that deliver new devices and improvements for our 24/7 high availability solutions. The role will involve planning and executing analyses using specialist CAE tools to provide clear and concise design direction to the wider engineering team. A mechanical background is required with strong knowledge of mechanical engineering first principles. Basic hands-on mechanical skills would be advantageous.
The successful candidate will be a highly focused, self-motivated individual who already has a keen interest in analysis using CAE tools. He/She should have some knowledge and understanding of:
- Structural analysis
- Multi-body dynamics
- Engineering material property knowledge β metals, plastics and rubbers
- Design of plastic components
- Design of sheet metal components
- Design of mechanisms
- Data analysis and result reporting (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.)
- Reading 2D drawings (dimensioning & tolerancing)
- Basic mechanical practical skills
Key Responsibilities
- Support existing and new media (banknotes/cheques/vouchers) handling products from a mechanical perspective
- Use data points available to select the appropriate analysis approach
- Use CAE tools such as Ansys Mechanical and RecurDyn to evaluate different technologies and provide design direction
- Backup CAE tool findings using hand calculations or physical testing
- Collaborate with Engineers from different disciplines
- Produce clear and concise reports to easily share findings with the wider team
- Recommend solutions
- Keep up to date with the latest developments in modelling and simulation
Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Min 2 yearsβ experience in similar role
