We're currently supporting a growing multidisciplinary consultancy in their search for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Building Services team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer looking to step into a project-leading role, delivering schemes from feasibility through to construction across all RIBA stages (1–6).
The Role
- You'll be responsible for leading the design, specification, and delivery of mechanical building services projects, acting as Project Lead across multiple commissions.
- This position offers strong client exposure and the opportunity to mentor junior engineers while contributing to high-quality technical delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design and delivery across a range of building services projects
- Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring programme, quality, and commercial targets are met
- Produce feasibility studies, technical appraisals, and sustainability assessments
- Ensure compliance with British Standards, CIBSE guidance, and relevant legislation
- Prepare cost estimates, resource planning, and fee proposals
- Attend and represent the business at client, design team, and site meetings
- Support and mentor graduate and intermediate engineers
- Assist senior leadership with reporting, invoicing, and project tracking
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in building services mechanical engineering (consultancy and/or installation)
- Strong project leadership and client-facing experience
- Ability to manage workload across multiple live projects and deadlines
- Solid understanding of industry regulations and utility services
- Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline
- Experience with AutoCAD and IES (Revit, BIM, DesignBuilder, Cymap advantageous)
- Professionally registered or working towards chartership (CIBSE, IMechE, IET, etc.)
