Role Overview
Working closely with the Low Latency Co-Location Team Lead, the Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for the design, deployment, and support of high-performance network infrastructure within client data centre and exchange co-location environments. The role focuses on delivering low-latency routing and switching solutions across multiple exchanges and global infrastructure environments. You will operate within a complex, multi-vendor network environment and play a key role in implementing scalable, resilient connectivity solutions while adapting to evolving technology and procurement challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain high-performance, low-latency network infrastructure within exchange and co-location environments.
- Implement routing and switching solutions across multi-vendor platforms, particularly Cisco and Arista.
- Support and evolve global WAN connectivity and cloud networking solutions.
- Configure and troubleshoot multicast network environments used for market data distribution.
- Deploy and support low-latency timing infrastructure, including GPS, PTP, NTP, and PPS systems.
- Install and maintain infrastructure within co-location facilities including rack-and-stack, cross-connects, and vendor coordination.
- Implement and operate packet capture, monitoring, and network analysis tools to troubleshoot performance and latency issues.
What You Will Ideally Bring:
- Proven experience as a network engineer in complex, multi-vendor environments.
- Hands-on experience working in data centre or co-location environments.
- Experience supporting low-latency or performance-sensitive network infrastructure.
- Previous exposure to exchange or financial trading connectivity environments is advantageous.
- Strong hands-on experience with routing and switching technologies.
- Strong operational experience with Cisco and Arista networking platforms.
- Solid understanding of core networking protocols and concepts including: BGP, OSPF, VLANs, Spanning Tree (STP), QoS, Layer 2 and Layer 3 troubleshooting.
- Experience configuring and supporting multicast networking.
- Familiarity with Fortinet Firewalls.
- Experience implementing network timing solutions (GPS, PTP, NTP, PPS).
